Laser Rejuvenation Clinics & Spa was one of the first facilities in Canada to announce the use of this breakthrough technology.  A laser or polychromatic light damages and effectively removes unwanted body hair - all in a spa-like setting.

What happens during the procedure?

First, our specially trained technician cleanses your skin. Next, the area is scanned with the laser light.  This unique process affects the hair follicles only, disabling the hair’s capacity to grow.  For the finishing touch, a cool soothing gel is applied to the treated area.

Is it painful?
The sensation has been described as similar to that of a rubber band snapping against the skin.

How does the laser remove hair?
The process to remove the hair follicle is called selective photo-thermolysis.  It involves selecting an intended target.  In this case, the target is the melanin present in all hair follicles.  The laser uses a wavelength of light specific to the melanin.  The light passes harmlessly through the top layer of the skin (epidermis) and is absorbed maximally by the melanin in the hair follicle and minimally by any other tissue.

How effective is the laser?
Based on our experience with the laser and the manufacturer’s claims, there is anywhere from 20-50% removal of hair with just one treatment!  Side effects, if any, are negligible.  Occasional cases of mild skin irritation, similar to mild sunburn, may occur.

What areas can I have treated?

Any area can be treated, but the most commonly treated areas are the upper lip, chin, neck, chest, underarms, bikini line and legs (no more stubble!).

How cost effective is the laser?
Laser treatments are both fast and cost effective, especially when compared to other methods of treatment.  Waxing may cost $30 per month, with a typical patient spending $3600 over 10 years and investing over 100 hours.  Electrolysis may involve treatments every two weeks for 3-4 years at $30-$50 per treatment with costs up to $4000.  A course of 8 treatments for hair removal above the lip with the laser usually takes only 90 minutes of total treatment time and costs about $400.  Of course, each patient is unique and the amount of surface area to be treated and the time it takes can vary.
