Why We Love Vitamin C

In my role as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Vivier Pharma, I travel constantly, meeting and collaborating with our partners across North America. We speak of how our products help improve the skin, helping to fight the signs of again and make dramatic improvements to skin conditions that ultimately change people’s lives.

The loyalty our products have earned is based on the simple fact that they work. The key element that drives that success is vitamin C – the critical ingredient to helping improve the health of your skin. Here are a few reasons why:

Vitamin C is a first-rate anti-aging ingredient.

As a free radical scavenger and anti-inflammatory, vitamin C increases collagen production and gives skin a healthy, more youthful glow. The biggest challenge is that vitamin C is unstable – it naturally oxidizes and loses its efficacy.

My father, Jess Vivier, a Canadian chemist and founder of Vivier Pharma, believed for many years that vitamin C offered powerful skin care benefits that could be the solution to improving aging skin. His relentless efforts along with extensive research and development led to the creation of our Vivier® Vitamin C Serums.

Vivier Pharma set the standard by using only pharmaceutical grade L-Ascorbic Acid USP. The USP stands for United States Pharmacopeia and indicates that the substance is 99.9% pure. USP ingredients are often found in children’s medicines, prescription drugs and other advanced treatments.

When choosing a vitamin C, look for one with L-Ascorbic Acid. Your body doesn’t recognize other forms, such as Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, so they must be converted to L-Ascorbic Acid by the body to be beneficial.

Vivier’s® Vitamin C Serums are stable and able to maintain their efficacy. Exposed to air, vitamin C undergoes oxidation (the same process that causes an apple slice to turn brown). An oxidized vitamin C formulation becomes an oxidant instead of an antioxidant, which is harmful to the skin. The formulation and grade of vitamin C in its raw form determine the rate at which the formulation will oxidize. The colour of your vitamin C serum will indicate its stability.

The key to enhancing absorption is the Vivier® IntraDermal System IDS™. This delivery system allows the vitamin C and other key ingredients to penetrate in a controlled fashion and to be deposited within the layers of the skin where they are needed most. No other vitamin C serum in the world has the IDS™ system. It is also the only product of its kind to use an innovative delivery system to assure that the vitamin C is delivered in the skin where it is needed most. Penetration of our products is why they work so effectively.

What will vitamin C do for my skin?

Topical use of vitamin C and most importantly L-Ascorbic Acid (the only form of vitamin C that can be absorbed by the body) has been widely researched and acclaimed for its impressive, anti-aging benefits.

Protect your skin and help prevent wrinkles

Free radicals produced by UV rays (sunlight), cigarette smoke and pollution are the main contributors to premature aging, also known as photoaging. Vitamin C neutralizes free radicals and helps reduce the signs of aging. Vitamin C has also been shown to both protect against and reduce harmful effects in the skin caused by UV radiation from the sun. Although not a sunscreen, Vitamin C will work in synergy with a good sunscreen to provide maximum protection and help prevent premature wrinkles.

Help restore collagen and repair skin damage

Aging skin loses its elasticity, strength and thickness because collagen production is diminished. Vitamin C helps restore collagen in three ways:

• It stimulates the collagen-producing cells to produce more

• It acts as a catalyst in the producing collagen

• It helps your body make high-quality collagen

Vitamin C can help fade uneven skin tone, brown spots and age spots. Because of its free radical scavenging abilities, vitamin C can reduce melanin formation for a blemish free skin. With daily use of Vitamin C you will notice your skin texture become smoother and firmer to the touch. Skin becomes more hydrated, we have visibly less wrinkles and beautiful healthy, luminous skin.
